Whatever you do and whatever you like, Singapore has a ‘welcome mat’ for all visitors.
Singapore is a transit location for many flights travelling out of Australia and sometimes transit can extend for several hours. Luckily, Changi Airport has many things to do and plenty of resting spots to accommodate weary travellers.
Tourists have a myriad of entertainment options available. Stroll through the Butterfly Garden, admire the Kinetic Rain Sculpture, test your courage and ride the world’s tallest ‘in-airport’ slide, get a free and relaxing massage, or simply unwind and go for a swim at the Airport Pool located at Terminal 1. With so many fun things for travellers to do, it is no surprise that Changi Airport is named the world’s best airport.
Things to do
Singapore is a metropolitan city offering a slew of experiences with plenty to do before you embark on your sea-faring adventure. Incoming cruise guests arriving at The Marina Bay Cruise Centre will find themselves directly in the hub of the city, which is very convenient since it is well connected to public transport. Marina Bay Sands offers a unique mix of activities, including luxury-brand shopping and dining with a view over the city. Furthermore, it is the home of Sands Casino, one of Singapore’s two casinos, as well as Gardens by the Bay, a beautiful showcase of tropical horticulture and garden artistry.
Remember to discover Sentosa Island, Singapore’s leisure resort getaway and home to Singapore’s Universal Studios and Adventure Cove Waterpark. Located a short distance away from the Singapore Cruise Terminal, Sentosa Island can be reached by foot, bus or cable car.
Singapore is a mecca for shopping and is sure to provide a complete and satisfying experience for shopaholics. The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands is an architectural marvel to behold and sports a view of the bay from the 57th storey. When not taking in the engineering brilliance of the surroundings, shoppers will find that The Shoppes is home to a plethora of high-end fashion brands, such as Alexander McQueen, Armani, Dior, Hugo Boss, Bottega Veneta and many more.
Guests venturing into the city should explore Orchard Road – a 2.2 kilometre stretch of mega-malls, including the likes of ION Orchard and Paragon. Stores and malls on either side of Orchard Road are stocked with general apparel, luxury branded fashion clothes, jewellery, souvenirs, etc.
Wine & Dine
After a day of shopping, book and dine at Labyrinth, which boasts a holistic dining experience and features local Singaporean flavours and cultures designed to capture Chef LG Han’s roots and memories of life growing up in Singapore.
Alternatively, reserve your booking at Sky on 57 and soak in the panoramic skyline while feasting on a variety of ‘east-meets-west’ cuisine styles. Restaurant guests are invited to sate their palette on Chef Justin Quek’s Asian-French fusion creations, such as his famous foie gras xiao long bao soup dumplings.
Singapore brags a rich and vibrant nightlife and hosts an array of local bars and clubs. In particular, guests can make their way to and enjoy a variety of alcoholic concoctions at the Manhattan Bar. The Manhattan Bar is not only awarded ‘Best Bar in Asia’, but also the ’11th Best Bar in the World’. Truly a must-visit for connoisseurs.

Her favourite port of call is Barcelona because it’s close to the city and she is a sucker for Gaudi and tapas! A big fan of leisurely river cruising as well, Sarah loves nothing more than stopping off along the banks of the Loire Valley for a spot of wine tasting and visiting Bordeaux for the history and amazing French food. On her cruise holiday to-do list is the Panama Canal, an Arctic expedition cruise and a river cruise through Asia.
