The Northen lights are so present there that in 2013 they inspired the design for the Alta Northen Lights Cathedral, with its cascading architecture. Nearby you can ist the amazing Hjemmeluft Bay, which is home to thousands of prehistoric rock paintings. Alta is also the beginning of the famous Alta Fjord.

La Coruna, Spain's port city and beachy hot spot in the north is known for its Roman lighthouse, the Tower of Hercules, which has sweeping coastal views. In the medieval old town is the arcaded Plaza de María Pita, surrounded by narrow pedestrianized lanes.
