Maasdam was inspired by the Maas River in the Netherlands and is the fifth ship to carry the name. Day 11: Lautoka, Fiji

Fun Fact – Lautoka, meaning “spear-hit” or “hit to win,” received its name as a result of an argument between two chiefs. Situated on the western side of the largest island in Fiji, Lautoka is encased by clear waters of the Pacific Ocean on one side and sugar cane crops and pine tress on the other.

Day 12: Savusavu, Fiji

Situated on the south coast of Vanua Levu, Savusavu is commonly referred to as “the hidden paradise of Fiji”. Another perfect destination to swim in the crystal blue waters surrounding the island.

Day 13: Dravuni Island, Fiji

Dravuni is a volcanic island, situated in the Kadavu Group of islands in Fiji. You’ll always feel welcome here with friendly tribes treating you like family, offerring a true insight in to Fijian culture.

Day 16: Bay of Islands, New Zealand

Bay of Islands is the first place in New Zealand to be settled by the Europeans. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife as dolphins and other marine life are often spotted in this area! Walk through the forest to visit caves full of glow worms, go kayaking through the mangroves or take a historical tour of Kerikeri and Waitangi.

Day 30: Rangiroa, French Polynesia

Rangiroa is home to stunning coral reef structures and pristine waters, typifying the best of the South Pacific region. Discover the small villages and meet the friendly people of the Paumotu tribes whilst the lagoons boast black pearl farms, fish farms and are perfect for swimming, snorkelling and scuba diving.

Day 31: Fakarava, French Polynesia

Fakarava is the second largest atoll in French Polynesia. It was discovered fairly recently in 1820 by a Russian explorer named Fabian Gottlieb von Bellingshausen and originally named this quaint island “Wittgenstein”.

The largest of the Marquesas Islands, Nuku Hiva is a beautiful volcanic island with enormous mountains boasting jagged walls that directly plunge into the ocean beneath. An explorer famously called it “a country that no description could fit the beauty”. Uncover waterfalls, lagoons and stone “tiki” statues scattered throughout the lush forests. The CBD’s Trans-america Pyramid is its most distinctive building, offering unparalleled views of the city. You’ll find Alcatraz Island, site of the notorious former prison, in San Francisco bay.
