A mix of charming cobbled streets and open-air cafes in the old town, typical South American chaos in the outer-town and modern, luxurious restaurants along the Bocagrande – Cartagena’s fashionable beach-front district.Day 5: Colon, Panama
It sits on the Caribbean coast, at the entrance to the Panama Canal. The Canal Expansion Observation Center is a park with viewing platforms over the canal’s Atlantic locks and Gatún Lake. The vast Colón Free Trade Zone offers tax-free shopping. Just west of the city, at the mouth of the Chagres River, Fort San Lorenzo is a well-preserved colonial military structure.Day 6: Panama Canal, Panama
Known as the world’s biggest short cut, the Panama Canal joins the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean. Started by the French and completed by the USA on Panama’s land, the 48-mile canal was opened just over 100 years ago in 1914. Since then over 1-million ships have used the short cut. On your journey through the canal you will be able to see how the series of locks slowly elevate the ship up through the canal and back down again on the other side.Day 7: At Sea

Nicaragua, set between the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, is a Central American nation known for its dramatic terrain of lakes, volcanoes and beaches. Vast Lake Managua and the iconic stratovolcano Momotombo sit north of the capital Managua. To its south is Granada, noted for its Spanish colonial architecture and an archipelago of navigable islets rich in tropical bird life.Day 10: Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala
