Day 1: Australia – Kathmandu (In-flight Meals)

Depart Australia today and fly to Kathmandu, Nepal. Upon arrival, be met at the airport and transferred to the hotel. The rest of the day is free time.

Note: Due to flight times and scheduling, some customers may be required to depart on the day before (day 0).

Day 2: Kathmandu (B)

This morning after breakfast, set out for a full day sightseeing experience in the Kathmandu Valley. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site Durbar Square, Swayambunath Monkey Temple and imposing Boudhanath Stupa, one of most impressive Buddhist stupas in Nepal and usually vibrant with the prayers and prostrations of devotees. The tour will expose Kathmandu’s contrasts between traditional and modern, practical and spiritual.
The evening is free to relax or explore some of Kathmandu’s vibrant night time shopping, restaurants, cafes and bars.

Day 3: Kathmandu – Chitwan National Park Approx. 150km (B, L, D)

After breakfast leave the Kathmandu Valley behind and view the Nepalese countryside from your airconditioned vehicle today, as the tour takes the scenic, riverside drive to Royal Chitwan National Park. Upon arrival transfer to the hotel, afternoon is at leisure.
Late in the afternoon visit the local Tharu village to learn more about their lifestyle, culture, religion. In the evening be entertained by a traditional Tharu Stick Dance and included dinner.

Special option early this morning: The Ultimate Experience Mountain Flight (AUD$360pp). This 45-minute flight offers an incredible panorama of the Himalayas and Mount Everest.

Day 4: Chitwan National Park (B, L, D)

This morning after breakfast at the lodge, experience a fully guided day of jungle-based activities, sailing in a traditional ‘patela’ boat which will take you on a silent trip down the Rapti River to see waterfowl, crocodiles, gharials and animals from the riverbanks. Later enjoy a Jeep Safari in the National Park to look for wild animals. The afternoon will be at leisure.

(The National Park is closed in July, August and September. The Safari experience is provided in the adjacent buffer zones during this time.)

Day 5: Chitwan – Pokhara Approx. 165km (B)

After breakfast this morning, depart for Pokhara. On arrival, check in and relax for the rest of the day. The Lakeside region of Pokhara has restaurants, stalls and shops to explore.

Overnight: 4* The Waterfront Resort

Day 6: Pokhara (B)

Start with a stunning sunrise and outstanding views of the Annapurna range from Sarangkot hill. Followed by a visit Bindabashini Temple, regarded as a Hindu spiritual centre of Pokhara. Return to the hotel for breakfast. Then visit the serene Peace Stupa, where further panoramic views include the Phewa Lake, Pokhara and the towering Annapurna Range. The afternoon is at leisure. Later enjoy a boat ride in Phewa Lake.

Day 7: Pokhara – Day trek to Australian Camp (elevation: 2100m) (B, L)

After breakfast, be driven to Kande and start the gentle hike (approx. 2 hours) up through the forest to Australia Camp. Take in truly impressive views of Annapurna Range, including Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna South Hiuchuli, Annapurna II & IV and Lamjung Himal. Explore the picturesque village of Pothana and later return to Pokhara to relax for the rest of the day. A packed lunch will be provided for the walk.
Those who do not wish to take this walk can relax in Pokhara or choose the optional guided tour to the International Mountain Museum and Tibetan Refugee Camp (extra fee applicable).
(Trek paths are slippery during July, August and September due to monsoon and require extra caution during the trek.)

Day 8: Pokhara – Nagarkot Approx. 225km (B, D)

After breakfast this morning, depart Pokhara and return to the Kathmandu valley, arriving in the hill town of Nagarkot, famous for its incredible sunsets and rises and fantastic view of Mt Everest, weather permitting.

Day 9: Nagarkot – Bhaktapur – Kathmandu Approx. 31kms (B, D)

Wake up early to catch the extraordinary Himalayan sunrise this morning. Then, after breakfast, take the short trip to Bhaktapur, an ancient town, almost entirely comprised of UNESCO listed structures representing multiple faiths and traditions. Return to Kathmandu with time for final sightseeing or shopping. Enjoy a farewell dinner in a traditional local restaurant.

Day 10: Kathmandu – Paro, Bhutan (By Flight) – Thimphu Approx. 55kms (L, D)

After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the airport and experience the stunning flight through the Himilayas into Bhutan. Meet your guide and driver outside the terminal building and transfer to the hotel in Thimphu. Take the afternoon to visit Trashichhoe Dzong; a striking monastery and Buddha Point, where the largest statue of Buddha in the country sits.

The evening will be at leisure.

Day 11: Thimphu – Paro Approx. 55kms (B, L, D)

In the morning after breakfast, experience a fascinating guided sightseeing tour in Thimphu Valley. Visiting the National Library, National Textile Museum, Zorig Chusum, the National Institute of Arts and the Kings Memorial Chorten (stupa).

Later depart Thimphu arriving into Paro, check into your hotel.

Day 12: Paro – Tiger’s Nest Monastery Hike approx. 2 hours (B, L, D)

After breakfast, leave Paro to visit Taktshang Monastery, or Tiger’s Nest, the famous monastery, perched on the steep side of an escarpment. The walk up takes about 2 hours, with the option to ride up on a horse. Visitors can pause or stop at a café positioned roughly half way up the track. Note that the horse ride (approx. AUD$45) is only available on the way up.

Those who do not wish to take the walk can relax with free time or book the optional excursion to Kichu Lhakang Buddhist Temple and ruins of Drukgyel Dzong Monastery.

After returning to the base, visit a local farm, National Museum and market before returning to the hotel to relax for the evening.

Day 13: Paro, Bhutan – Kathmandu, Nepal (B)

After breakfast at the hotel this morning, transfer to the Paro International Airport for your flight back to Kathmandu, Nepal. Upon arrival, be picked up from the airport and transferred to the hotel.

A second deposit from $1200 per person will be required 11 months prior to departure. The balance will be due 5 months prior to departure.

If you are unable to travel due to government restrictions or supplier cancellations, we will waive our administration fees and assist with a date change, credit or refund less any unrecoverable third-party costs. Credits are subject to supplier conditions and fare differences may apply upon rebooking.

Each amendment incurs a $55 per person administration fee.
Additional fees from third-party suppliers including airlines may apply.

• Cancellation more than 90 days before departure: Loss of deposit only.
• Cancellation within 90 days of departure: 30% of package price.
• Cancellation within 60 days of departure: 50% of package price.
• Cancellation within 14 days of departure: 100% of package price.

Each person is entitled to a strict maximum of one bag not exceeding 20kg on tour, regardless of any other baggage allowance.
Porter service is not included and you are expected to carry your own bags. Luggage and personal effects are your own risk and we hold no liability for lost or damaged belongings.

Final documentation including flights will be emailed within two of weeks of departure of the respective travel component.

Full names and a copy of each traveller’s valid passport photo page are required for reservation. Passports must be valid for 6 months beyond trip completion.

The Bhutan extension is subject to international connecting flight schedules between Nepal and Bhutan, which have not been released at the time of publication.

If attractions are not available due to reasons beyond our control such as closures or adverse weather, similar alternatives will be provided where possible. Force majeure means any natural disaster, accident, fire, act of God, act of war, terrorism, legally binding judgment, injunction, action of a court or other relevant authority, emergency, unplanned repairs, maintenance, strike, industrial dispute, work ban, blockade or picketing, travel ban, pandemic, epidemic or outbreak of infectious disease, or other event beyond our reasonable direct or indirect control. In case of force majeure or other extraordinary event that prevents safe travel, we reserve the right to adjust, postpone or cancel the trip.
