Day 19: Civitavecchia (Rome Port), Italy
Civitavecchia is a coastal town northwest of Rome, in Italy. Built-in the 2nd century, the Port of Civitavecchia still retains some of its original features, like the Roman Dock. The port area also includes the 16th-century Michelangelo Fort. Nearby, the National Archaeological Museum displays bronze and ceramic artifacts. Northeast of town is the Terme Taurine, the ruins of a Roman thermal bath complex.
Day 20: Genoa, Italy — Milan, Italy
Disembark in Genova for the next stage of your Journey. Genoa is known for its key role in maritime trade over several centuries. Narrow streets open onto monumental squares like Piazza de Ferrari, site of an iconic bronze fountain and Teatro Carlo Felice opera house. Travel by Rail to Milan and enjoy a 3 night hotel stay.
Day 21: Lake Como, Italy (Day Tour)
Discover Lake Como in Italy’s beautiful Lake District, just a short distance from Milan. Nestled between the huge snowcapped Alps that rise up from its shores is the fashionable lakeside town, Como. Enjoy a full day exploring this area with your guide. Como is a city at the southern tip of Lake Como in northern Italy. It’s known for the Gothic Como Cathedral, a scenic funicular railway, and a waterfront promenade. The Museo Didattico della Seta traces the history of Como’s silk industry, while the Tempio Voltiano museum is dedicated to Italian physicist Alessandro Volta. Just north are the lakeside gardens of the palatial Villa Olmo, as well as other stately villas.
