Day 3: Copenhagen, Denmark

Day 4: Rostock (Berlin), Germany

Straddling the beautiful Warnow River is the town of Rostock. You can access the historical city of Berlin from here or choose to spending the day visit the Botanical Gardens, Gothic St Mary’s Church or walking the cobblestone main square.

Your day at sea will allow you to take full advantage of everything the ship has to offer. Seek out hidden treasures and make the most of the facilities onboard. Day 6: Tallinn, Estonia

Not your typical stop on a European bucket list journey but boy is it worth it. The capital of Estonia impresses cruise guests with its mix of medieval houses, modern boutiques, and café culture. Venture inside the ancient walls of Old Town to explore stunning Medieval landmarks like Toompea Castle and a 15th Century apothecary shop.

Day 7 – 8: St. Petersburg, Russia

St. Petersburg has remained the cultural center of Russia since its inception by namesake, Peter the Great. Astounding architecture, Tchaikovsky operas, and the famous Kirov ballet are must see’s while staying overnight in this trans-formative city. Overnight on board.

Day 9: Helsinki, Finland

As you disembark from Norwegian Getaway in Copenhagen, take a short flight to Budapest for your pre cruise stay to explore Hungary’s capital.

Day 13-14: Budapest, Hungary

Today your Avalon Waterway journey begins. Have a relaxing morning before making your way to the Budapest river dock for your 7-night Luxury River Cruise from Budapest to Deggendorf. Overnight on board

Day 15: Bratislava, Slovakia

Uniquely situated on the border of three countries and nestled beside the Danube river. Bratislava is infused with where new meets old. Take a walking tour of the pedestrianised Old Town and discover the dramatic architecture enchanted by a wealth of history and culture in the city’s many museums.

Day 16: Vienna, Austria

Welcome to Vienna! This famous European capital city is known for its fabulous palaces, museums, and architecture, as well as the people who have called the city home such as Mozart, Beethoven, and Freud. There a many guided walking experiences available or if you’d prefer to experience the city like a local, take a guided walk that highlights Viennese essentials, such as coffee, sausages, wine, music, and public transportation. No visit to this beautiful city is complete without music, so you’ll be treated to an exclusive private “Royal Anniversary” concert, celebrating Maria Theresa’s 300th birthday and legacy in a Viennese palace.

Day 17: Durnstein, Austria

Today will consist of a stop-off in Austria’s wine region. After a scenic cruise through the spectacular Wachau Valley, you will arrive in Dürnstein, one of the most enchanting villages in the Wachau wine region. It was here that Richard the Lionheart was imprisoned after returning from the crusades in the 12th Century. If you fancy an active adventure sign up for today’s bike ride along the banks of the Danube.

Day 18: Linz, Austria

A riverside township filled with both the old and the new. Marvel at the beauty of the baroque buildings, including Old Town Hall (Altes Rathaus) and the old cathedral or Alter Dom, ring Hauptplatz, the old town’s main square. The riverside Lentos Kunstmuseum Linz has a major modern art collection. Across the river, the striking Ars Electronica Center focuses on society, technology, and life in the future.

Day 19: Passau, Germany

One of your highlights today is the Schlogen Oxbow, where the Danube, Inn, and Ilz Rivers meet. A picturesque horseshoe-shaped bend in the river before docking into Passau, home to Europe’s largest church organ which has more than 17,000 pipes, sitting inside St. Stephen’s Cathedral with its amazing baroque architecture. Wander the narrow cobblestone streets and admire the Oberhaus Fortress looming above the town.

Day 20: Deggendorf, Germany to Munich, Germany

As you disembark in Deggendorf and bid your newfound friends farewell, you will be transferred to Munich Airport for your flight home or ask us about our flexible flights and extend your stay.
