Gold was discovered nearby in 1896, causing Skagway to grow quickly. You can see gold rush era buildings preserved in the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park. Another activity from this period, the Yukon Route Rail Road will take you on a vintage locomotive tour of the area with fantastic views out over the mountains.

Day 5: Juneau, Alaska

The only state capital in the USA that can only be reached by boat or seaplane. With no road access and its extreme remote location, the wildlife and wilderness in Juneau are second to none! Go sea kayaking, pan for gold, visit a salmon hatchery, or take a whale watching trip. Don’t miss the Mendenhall Glacier and a glimpse back to the ice-age!

Day 6: Ketchikan, Alaska

Today’s adventure brings us to Ketchikan, another fascinating location on the Alaskan coast. Visit a Native American village, watch a lumberjack show, take a trip to the Misty Fjords or go crab fishing!

Known as the world’s biggest short cut, the Panama Canal joins the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean. Started by the French and completed by the USA on Panama’s land, the 48-mile canal was opened just over 100 years ago in 1914. Since then over 1-million ships have used the short cut. On your journey through the canal you will be able to see how the series of locks slowly elevate the ship up through the canal and back down again on the other side.

Day 21: Cartagena, Colombia

Welcome to Colombia! Cartagena is a centuries-old colonial walled town with a fascinating history of explorers, invasions and pirates. A mix of charming cobbled streets and open-air cafes in the old town, typical South American chaos in the outer-town and modern, luxurious restaurants along the Bocagrande – Cartagena’s fashionable beach-front district.

Day 24: Miami (Florida), United States of America

Welcome to Miami! The Cuban influence of this city is evident through the many cafes and cigar shops situated in Little Havana. Spend a few hours down at the famous South Beach, explore the colourful art deco architecture, restaurants and invigorating nightclubs.

Carnival Freedom has a message for you, and its “feel free to have fun!” Explore the ship and you’ll find food options galore, starting with two dining rooms, but definitely extending outdoors — there’s mouth-watering Guy Fieri burgers at Guy’s Burger Joint, plus the greatest tacos and burritos this side of the pier at BlueIguana Cantina. For delicious, but quick and easy, selections from the sea, get your chopsticks around all the good stuff at Bonsai Sushi Express.

For every great food spot, there’s a great place to enjoy drinks, too, from the toe-tapping Scott’s Piano Bar to the always-hoppin’ 70’s Nightclub. For the thirsty, libation hotspots include Alchemy Bar® and the 50-yard-line of fun itself, SkyBox Sports Bar. Everybody’s favorite outdoor seaside bar is here… whether yours is the RedFrog Rum Bar® or BlueIguana Tequila Bar. (Or hey, make it both!) The rum bar’s older brother, RedFrog Pub®, features drinks, live music and traditional pub games. Topping off adult-time is Serenity — adult-only, of course — the retreat where total relaxation is not only encouraged, but pretty much required.

If you’re a kid, Carnival Freedom means you’re in for a treat. Not only will you find new friends at one of three youth spaces — like Camp Ocean® — but you can splash around with them in one of our many pools, speed down a waterslide at Carnival WaterWorks, or once you dry off, challenge them to a round of mini-golf. Oh, and adults — don’t get jealous; your inner kid gets to do all this stuff too!
