Splendours Down Under – Auckland to Sydney

Auckland is surrounded by 48 erupted volcanic structures which are spread around the city and present some stunning views. This is also the best spot for the shop-a-holics on-board, spanning from luxury brands to open-air markets. If you’d prefer something involving nature, Auckland also has lush rain forests, coastal trails and sparkling beaches!
Today’s adventure is in Tauranga, on the Bay of Plenty. With a fascinating history, stretching back to the first Maori settlement in the 13th century, Tauranga has a lot to see and do. The fifth largest city in New Zealand, life in Tauranga is all about the water, fishing, dolphin spotting, and wandering along the harbour side. Nearby attractions include Mount Maunganui a popular beach town, Mclaren Falls, and Hell’s Gate which is a geothermal park boasting mud baths, sulphur spas, and amazing views out over the landscape.
Take your pick between fine art or fine wine, hint: both are a win! The quaint town was devastated by an earthquake in 1931 which inspired them to rebuild Art Deco style. The style is evident everywhere you look so bask in your surroundings with a stroll along Marine Parade or escape to the country to discover rolling vineyards.
Explore the charm of one of New Zealand’s most well-known cities, it may be compact but there is an abundance of activities to partake in. Step out of the city to the embrace of green hillsides or venture further to see the countryside and rugged coastline.
Perched on a pristine harbour, Akaroa holds its own as a unique town that showcases French heritage. Acting as a gateway to Christchurch, it expresses itself through the Banks Peninsula to the towering mountains of the Southern Alps.
Dunedin blends natural beauty and deep history within an eclectic mix of Victorian and Edwardian architecture, which stems from its gold rush predecessors. The only castle in New Zealand belongs to the area which is perched above the city and offers breathtaking views from its stunning gardens.
Boasting an array of wildlife, you are in for a treat of exploring cascading waterfalls, looming mountains and ample marine life. Ancestors believed a divine mason created this awe inspiring location. The fjord boasts unbelievable mountain ranges, enforced by Mitre Peak and cascading waterfalls that extend off cliff faces!
