Welcome to Genoa, birthplace of Christopher Columbus Discoverer of the New World. Genoa has long had a history entwined with voyages, step aboard the MSC Poesia and prepare to start your own!
There is so much to do in this historic Italian town, as well as unmissable excursions! Head to Sorrento for the day, just a one-hour journey from the ship which passes through quaint villages and pretty coast lines. This beautiful well-known town won’t fail to win you over with its narrow cobbled streets, cathedrals and views over the harbour.
Sicily is a small island off the coast of mainland Italy. Having been settled by the ancient Greeks, the island is full of mythical stories and local legends. Make sure to take a trip up to Mount Etna, Europe’s highest volcano!
Welcome to Valletta, a walled city built in the 1500’s by the Knights of St. John and now capital of Malta. This small group of islands in the Mediterranean is packed full of history having had a number of invaders and rulers over the years including the Romans, French and British. If you want to go further afield why not take a Jeep tour around the north of the island, go wine tasting, or swim with dolphins!
Another of the Mediterranean islands, Mallorca is a province of Spain and is also part of the Balearic Islands. While in Palma De Mallorca, why not take a historic city tour or head down to the marina and walk along the water. Perhaps stop at an ocean-front café for lunch and a refreshing sangria! Alternatively, join a day tour out to Valledemosa, to see the hillside home of Chopin and George Sand. Walk the cobblestone streets and enjoy a coffee or an ice-cream in pavement-side café.
World famous architect Antonio Gaudi is responsible for the unique buildings and sculptures strewn across the Barcelona. Make sure to have a walk around the huge, still yet to be finished church, Sagrada Familia, which has been under construction since 1882. Afterwards why not visit Barceloneta beach, this stylish ocean-side location offers white sand, warm water and beach bars to in which to while away the afternoon.
Welcome to Marseille, France’s second largest city! It has a long history of shipping and the Old Port (Vieux Port) is still thriving with its maritime heritage. From here you can either explore the city and sandy beaches nearby or take a day trip to other well-known French towns such as Aix-En-Provence, Cassis, and Avignon.
You have reached the end of your voyage on the MSC Poesia, get ready for the next adventure departing from Venice. One of the most romantic cities in Europe, don’t miss an intimate gondola ride through the canals, or a wander through St. Marks Square. Venice is also famous for its Hand-Blown Murano Glass, these intricate designs make great souvenirs or gifts to take home. After you have had a look around hop aboard MSC Orchestra to start the next part of your trip.
Bari is the second largest town in Italy’s south, after Naples. It is a slow-paced university town with a busy port. Make sure to visit Vecchia Bari, Bari’s old town which can be easily explored by foot in just a few hours. Take a long lunch and enjoy some local Italian delicacies.
You have now arrived in Greece! From the port of Katakolon you can access Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympics.
Santorini is the picturesque Greek island town you have been dreaming of! Explore wineries, eat at local tavernas, watch some local Greek dancing and traditional plate smashing!
Piraeus has acted as the port to Athens since the Ancient Greek times, and is now the busiest port in the Mediterranean. Make sure to take a shore excursion to Greece’s capital and explore over 4,000-years’ worth of history!
Popular with European Tourists Corfu town has the traditional Greek architecture, culture and cuisine. Hire a jeep for the day and explore the island, or just relax in a taverna with a gyros!
Welcome to Montenegro! Spend the day exploring Kotor, a 9th century walled city, packed full of medieval architecture, narrow cobbled street and fantastic views!
