Mexican Riviera & the Panama Canal

There really is no easy way to see the sights of Mexico from Australia. Unless you enjoy multiple flight connections, lengthy stopovers, and rickety bus rides through the night. That is, with one exception. If you join Norwegian Cruise Line for a 14-night voyage through the Panama Canal you will experience the South-American countries language, culture and incredible food, all from the comfort of their luxury cruise ship!

With direct flights to Los Angeles, the ships departure port, meeting the ship is as easy as can be! Once on board, the first of two world-renowned Mexican ports of call you will stop at is Cabo, referred to by the Americans as ‘Land’s End’ because it is located at the very tip of the Baja Peninsula. There are two very different sides to Los Cabos, Cabo San Lucas where the ship will dock has luxury spa’s and resorts, glamorous bars and designer shops. While San Jose del Cabo has kept its authentic Mexican charm, think narrow cobbled streets, small local restaurants and boutique shops. Whether you enjoy long lunches in opulent cafes, exploring the natural wonders of the surrounding landscape or getting out on the water, Cabo has something for everyone!

Back on board the Norwegian Jewel, your Mexican cruise will spend a day at sea on the way to Acapulco. Use the day to take advantage of the ships state of the art facilities and luxury dining options. Soak in the hot tub, get a spa treatment, or hit a few balls on the putting green.

The second stop on your epic Mexican Riviera cruise will bring you to Acapulco, a holiday retreat for the stars since the 50’s. Acapulco bay has a magnificent backdrop of imposing mountains and towering high-rises, met at the shore by warm turquoise waters and golden sand. Make sure to watch the famous cliff diving performances before heading back to the ship.

Two full days in Mexico, travelling by luxury ship, with the added bonus of continuing your cruise to Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Columbia. There truly is no other way to see South-America!

Her favourite port of call is Barcelona because it’s close to the city and she is a sucker for Gaudi and tapas! A big fan of leisurely river cruising as well, Sarah loves nothing more than stopping off along the banks of the Loire Valley for a spot of wine tasting and visiting Bordeaux for the history and amazing French food. On her cruise holiday to-do list is the Panama Canal, an Arctic expedition cruise and a river cruise through Asia.
